  • Data Engineer

    Location: Helsinki or Kuopio, Finland

     

    At Capalo AI, we build software that accelerates the transition to renewable energy. Our AI-powered platform, Capalo Zeus VPP™, optimizes large-scale battery energy storage systems and distributed energy resources across European electricity markets. As a certified Balance Responsible Party (BRP), we operate the full stack, from market prequalification and automated trading to real-time dispatch and regulatory compliance.

    ROLE MISSION

    As a Data Engineer, you’ll own the data infrastructure that powers our AI models, trading systems, and customer-facing products. This is a production-critical role: when electricity markets are live, our data pipelines must be reliable, observable, and scalable.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    • Build and own production data pipelines for time-series energy market data, battery telemetry, weather feeds, and trading signals
    • Handle incremental loads, historical backfills, and data quality validation
    • Design and maintain data APIs for real-time and historical data (versioning, authentication, pagination, SLAs)
    • Design data models for analytical and operational workloads across AWS (Glue, Athena, Timestream, Lambda)
    • Implement monitoring, dashboards, and alerts using Grafana and AWS CloudWatch
    • Own data reliability: runbooks, data quality checks, incident response, and resilience improvements
    • Collaborate with ML, backend, and product teams on data requirements and schema design
    • Write clean, tested code; participate in reviews; document and own systems in production

    WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

    Must-haves

    • Strong Git, Python and SQL; experience building production ETL/ELT pipelines
    • Hands-on AWS data stack experience (Glue, Athena, Lambda, Timestream or similar)

  • Technical Project Manager

    Role Mission

    You’ll own the end-to-end customer journey from onboarding to ongoing performance optimization and play a key role in launching Capalo Zeus VPP™ into new electricity markets. This is a cross-functional role at the intersection of customer success, technical delivery, and market expansion.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Create technical documentation translating market rules and regulations into product and operational requirements
    • Own onboarding and technical delivery for key battery customers (BESS owners & partners)
    • Drive technical go-to-market for new electricity markets:Coordinate compliance, prequalification, reporting, and market integration activities
    • Coordinate cross-functional execution across Operations, Product, Engineering, Trading and Sales
    • Lead customer integrations, testing, go-live readiness, and operational scaling
    • Act as the trusted customer advisor: understand goals, align expectations, and build long-term relationships
    • Run customer performance reviews, clearly demonstrating value (revenue impact, ROI, market performance)
    • Maintain structured project/customer documentation in CRM and improve processes continuously

    What Are We Looking For?

    • 3–5 years of experience in Technical Project Management, Technical Customer Success, Implementation Manager  (technical B2B/SaaS preferred)
    • Strong ability to manage complex technical projects with multiple stakeholders
    • Strong understanding of market logic required to launch operations with new assets, including end-to-end hardware and software integration between the asset and the trading company’s systems
    • Knowledge of market entry / prequalification / compliance processes
    • Technical curiosity and confidence working with product and engineering teams

    Role Mission

    As a Trading Operations Analyst at Capalo AI, you will be at the heart of our real-time trading operations.

    Your mission is to ensure the safe, compliant, and high-performance execution of our intraday trading strategies, with a particular focus on OPCOM (spot and intraday) and ancillary services market. You’ll sit at the intersection of trading, technology, and operations,  monitoring live activity, spotting anomalies early, and coordinating with our engineering and trading teams to keep everything running smoothly.

    This is a role for someone who loves live markets, thrives under time pressure, and takes pride in operational excellence and precision.

    Key Responsibilities

    As a Trading Operations Analyst, you will:

    • Real-Time Trading Monitoring: Monitor live trading activity and execution performance, track key metrics, ensure systems operate within defined thresholds
    • Protocol Adherence & Control: Ensure trading follows internal protocols, client mandates, and limits, execute predefined actions when thresholds are breached, verify operational safeguards function correctlyIncident Detection & Response: Identify trading anomalies or system issues, respond according to escalation procedures, coordinate incident resolution with engineering teams
    • Operational Reporting & Documentation: Maintain incident logs and action records, contribute to post-incident analysis, document operational procedures and escalation paths

    What Are We Looking For?

    You don’t need to have done this exact role before, but you should bring a strong mix of trading operations mindset, market understanding, and rigorous attention to detail.

    • 2–5+ years of experience in energy trading, dispatch, operations, or trading support (power markets experience strongly preferred)
    • Experience with spot and intraday trading at OPCOM, you understand how the market works, its products, timing, and operational realities
    • Comfort working with live systems, real-time data, and dashboards
    • Strong sense of ownership, responsibility, and risk awareness
    • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize in fast-moving situations, and follow escalation protocols precisely
    • Solid communication skills in English and Romanian.

    OPTIMIZATION ENGINEER

    to join our team. Capalo AIʼs virtual power plant optimizes hundreds of distributed battery energy-storage systems (BESS) as a single trading portfolio. Because assets are dispatched collectively, the revenue they earn must be distributed ex-post with mathematical precision and total transparency. As our Optimization Engineer, you will design, implement and continuously refine the algorithms that turn aggregated market income into fair, auditable payouts for every asset owner. Your work will sit at the intersection of quantitative research, software engineering and energy-market operations, ensuring that each customer is rewarded in proportion to their true contribution while enabling Capalo AI to scale confidently across new markets and asset classes.

    You will join a cross-functional algorithmic engineering squad—alongside optimisation, data and backend engineers—and collaborate closely with Trading, Finance and Customer Success to embed revenue-splitting logic deep into our settlement pipeline.

    • Prototype to production: Build high-performance Python modules that convert hourly market cash-flows into per-asset statements; write robust tests, documentation and CI pipelines to guarantee correctness and reproducibility
    • Data analysis and simulation: Develop simulations to benchmark fairness, sensitivity and edge-case behaviour of allocation methods under realistic trading scenarios and price volatility
    • System integration: Expose allocation results via APIs and data warehousing layers so that Finance can generate invoices and customers can view earnings in the Capalo AI portal
